Depth   A diamond’s depth is the distance from the table (top) to its culet (bottom).

Depth Percentage Depth percentage is the measurement of a diamond’s depth, relative to its diameter. A diamond’s depth is measured from its table (top) to its culet (bottom). The depth percentage can affect a diamond’s proportions resulting in the proper refraction of light and maximum brilliance. As a well-cut diamond should have even brilliance, the depth percentage is usually the best indicator of a diamond’s cut.

Diamond A diamond is the hardest known natural substance composed of crystallized carbon. Diamonds are mined in their rough form and then cut and polished to reveal their brilliance. Diamonds are "forever" because of their hardness, toughness and stability. Despite its hardness, however, it is not indestructible as it can chip or break under certain conditions.

Dispersion When light enters a diamond it reflects off the facets and the angles cut into the stone. This distribution of light is known as dispersion, or the display of the spectral colors.

Durability A gemstone's ability to withstand wear, heat and chemicals.
